               Treatment choices

What you should know......

Recently I actually had a moment to read a magazine on a infrequent visit to a doctors office and was delighted to read about what Dermatologists do for themselves to have such perfect skin. I was not surprised at what I read and I will list here a few of the things, I am sure you already know and follow, if you follow your home regimen prescribed by me.

As you know retinoids (as in phase 26 Retinol Renewal) boost Collagen and Elastin production, but most skin doctors feel that vitamin A alone does not do quiet enough plumbing. They layer a second topical containing either peptides (contained in phase 25 Exlinea) or a growth factor (contained in phase 24 Rejuvenating serum).

Most doctors save these big gun treatment products for night time.

As your temperature goes up while you sleep, it helps the products penetrate better.  Sleeping on your back instead on your side will help prevent lines from edging into your skin. Fluids pool on the side of your face that’s pressed against the pillow, stretching out the skin when you sleep on your side. The connection between wrinkles and how you sleep is very real.

To make your friends green with envy let’s all “layer” that second and perhaps even  a third layer of extra help on your skin. To help you with the economics of these products, let me save you some green and let you stock up on all these fabulous serums that can turn the tide of aging.

Through the month of March:

Its March,and everything is green.....

It is green because it’s raining, however much we don’t like it and because it’s March and we really do need it and I bet, most of us, who have gardens and like to take showers actually appreciate it. Saint Patricks day is coming, some of us will be wearing green as we are inspired with the hope of Spring and visions of Tulips and Lilacs. I found a promising Irish raisin cake recipe which is baked in a dutch oven. I will try it for my Gourmet clubs Irish dinner and I will include the recipe at the end of this letter.

When I drive past the pastures on my weekly drive to work It makes me smile watching the cows having green grass to eat and enjoy the life they were meant to have for the short time they are here. “Woolly weeders plus fertilizer” dot the hillside between the grape wines and I wish they would never leave, as that would mean the grass would stay green all year, but the rain would stay as well.

Cline winery on my path through the hills has a very clever writer and his/her quotes posted along the drive, almost always make me smile as I drive by. Todays quote was:”the weeds are deep, but we have sheep”.

What makes me sad, is that my Apricot tree was full of blooms when I left on Monday morning and when my friend Alice called me and told me it hailed today, I had to give up my hope of having apricots once again.

Well, then let’s eat cake with raisins:

Ingredients

•2 1/2 cups of buttermilk

•2 cups of sugar

•5 cups of flour

•2 sticks of butter

•5 eggs

•1 teaspoon cinnamon

•1 teaspoon nutmeg

•1 teaspoon allspice

•2 teaspoons baking soda

•Dash of salt

•1 (16-ounce box) of brown raisins

•1 (16-ounce) box of golden raisins

•1/2 cup whiskey, optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees and grease a Dutch Oven. Cream sugar and butter in large bowl. Add in eggs one at a time. Add seasonings. Mix baking soda into the buttermilk. Alternate adding flour, buttermilk and raisins into mix. Bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours in covered Dutch Oven. Cake is finished when knife inserted into middle comes out clean.

Optional- pour 1/2 cup of whiskey over cake immediately after removing from oven. Cake is best when cut after a few days.

Stay happy and healthy.

Sincerely, Gabrielle
